From the Common Past to the Common Future - Social Cohesion
The Social Cohesion book was published by BEKAM for the 3 million Syrians who fled the internal conflicts in Syria that started in 2011 and took refuge in our country. Published in Turkish and Arabic, the book covers many topics from an emergency guide to children's rights.
Science Education Culture Research Center (BEKAM) has published a book titled “Social Cohesion From a Common Past to a Common Future” for Syrian Guests living in Turkey. Published in Turkish and Arabic, the book's introduction includes an excerpt from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's speech.
The first wave of Syrian migrants entered Turkey on April 29, 2011. Since then, approximately 3 million Syrians live as guests in our country. In the book prepared to help our Syrian guests adapt to Turkey; It is aimed that both Syrian guests and other foreign nationals get to know this ancient geography closely, and have knowledge and culture about the country and geography they live in. The book consists of eleven chapters. The main topics are as follows: Ottoman-Republican Period Educational Tradition and System, Turkish Political Life, Brief History of Turkey, Health System and Its Operation in Turkey, Early Period Turkish Architecture and Major Architectural Works, Culture of Turkey, Turkish Literature, Civil in Turkey Society, Women and Children's Rights in Turkey, Emergency Guide, Traffic Rules.
Articles published in the project supported by İpekyolu Development Agency were written by a team of academics and educators. In the editorial board; Assist. Assoc. Dr. Mehmet Ulukütük, Mehmet Ali Eminoğlu, Sever Işık, Assoc. Dr. Gokcen Ozkan, Dr. Eyüp Şenköy, Enes Günaslan, İsmail Yüksek, Emre Buharalı and Celal Er took place.
The following statements were included in the preface of the book: “The issues discussed in the book, especially our Syrian brothers and our guests, who had to immigrate to our country due to various reasons in general, have come a long way in terms of both eliminating the problems arising from foreignness in their daily lives and in terms of social and cultural integration and harmony with the people of Turkey in these lands. will help to. As Syrian and Turkish people learn about each other, the interest will increase, and as the interest increases, prejudices will decrease. The topics in the book are prepared in an understandable language for our guests with an average education level and culture.
